Running the Race Part I

Jul 13, 2025    Pastor Ron Simmons

In our spiritual journey, we're called to run a marathon, not a sprint. This powerful message draws from Hebrews 12:1-2, reminding us that our faith walk is an endurance race. We're encouraged to lay aside every weight and sin that easily ensnares us, focusing on Jesus as we run. The analogy of a long-distance race beautifully illustrates our Christian walk - it's not about being first, but about finishing well. We're reminded that there's a generation counting on us, echoing Matthew 5:16 - our light must shine before others. This calls us to persevere through challenges, understanding that our journey impacts those around us. The story of the talents in Matthew 25 further emphasizes our responsibility to use what God has given us. As we run our race, let's remember - it's not just about us, but about the legacy we leave and the lives we touch along the way.
